Private Viewing Giveaway
Hey everyone,
I'm going through a turning point in my life right now. I recently lost my day job and now I must decide whether to become a full time writer or search for another job in my field that I have been losing interest in. It's been really hard and I have to admit I am terrified to not have a safety net.
I'll take all the advice +/or encouragement anyone has to offer. Please leave your email address and I'll send a copy of my latest release, Private Viewing, to someone who moves me the most or helps put a smile back on my face!
Can't wait to hear from you!

Sorry to hear about your job. I was in the same position three years ago when I lost mine. I stayed on unemployment for two years, then took a temp position. Making a living at one's writing is not easy, and it's not an assured income. It's Catch 22 - have a job so you can pay the bills, but then have less time to write, or write more and be unable to pay the bills. Unemployment only goes so far.
ReplyDeleteMy advice is to get a job, but keep writing, so that you can afford to leave the new job. I wish you the best of luck!

I agree with Julie, the stress of not having income really cuts into the creative process! Who knows, you might find a jog that inspires your writing.
ReplyDeleteI went through this same thing about 4 yrs ago. I would encourage you to take a look at your life. I chose to change my career path because the office environments I had been in for years kept becoming more toxic to me emotionally. I can't say that life has been easy but my life has been very different and I have changed a lot. I don't know how to advise you financially but emotionally you need to follow your dreams/heart/soul. Those are the most important part of who you are.

I'm going through something similar right now. I've been struggling to find out what to do, especially since I'm going through some family and health issues, and I finally decided to stop stressing out so much. I was making myself sick, and wasn't helping anything. So I took a day for myself to just relax, pray, and think. Then I decided to go ahead and write that book that had always been in the back of my mind and to open myself to new possibilities.
ReplyDeleteTwo days later, I was offered a job as a part-time nanny. I'm making more money, plus I get the chance to write part-time. So my advice is not to stress so much that it rules your life. I fell into that trap, and it only made things worse. Just let it go for a day or two, evaluate things open-mindedly and calmly, and then make your decision. It worked for me, and I'm happier now than I was at my old job :)
